IKEA's latest Nordmarke portable Qi charger looks to be a portable model

Since 2015, IKEA has sold a range of wireless chargers, but none that could be used without being plugged into a wall outlet. Images of a new portable Nordmärke Qi charger have surfaced online, courtesy of a few eagle-eyed Reddit users, and it appears that this is about to change. We also have some information about the device thanks to mobiFlip, a German news site that received it from a reader who purchased one in a Cologne store.

The portable charger was purchased for $22.64. The photographs show a 6,500mAh battery, which isn’t available online yet. It can charge Qi-compatible devices at a sluggish 5 watts. A power adapter and a USB cable aren’t included in the package. It is up to you to provide those, therefore it isn’t nearly as inexpensive as its pricing suggests. The internal batteries are, however, user-replaceable, which is a nice feature.

IKEA has been contacted to see if the Nordmärke portable Qi charger would be available in the United States. In the meantime, if you’re looking for a method to charge your devices on the road, a portable power bank is your best chance. There are some that cost less than $20. They will also have a larger battery than the Nordmärke and will charge your devices more quickly.
